Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Systems in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph & Brantford
Tap water in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Brantford is treated with Chloramine, while Guelph uses Chlorine, and both leave a taste and odour that many households would rather not drink. On top of that, our local water carries some of the highest Dissolved Mineral levels in Ontario. A Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System gives you clean, great tasting water from a dedicated tap at your sink, without the cost and plastic waste of bottled water.
At 5 Star Water Solutions, we carry four dedicated drinking water systems at different price points, plus the Brantford built Torrent whole home system that combines water softening and drinking water treatment in one, all installed and serviced by our own team out of Kitchener. Not sure which one fits your home? Contact us to book a free in-home water test and we will show you exactly what is in your water before you buy.
What Reverse Osmosis Removes
A Reverse Osmosis membrane forces water through pores so small that dissolved contaminants are left behind. Depending on the system and cartridges, that includes Lead, PFAS (PFOA and PFOS, often called forever chemicals), Fluoride, Arsenic, Nitrates, Sodium, and Total Dissolved Solids, along with the Chloramine and Chlorine taste from municipal treatment. It is also the ideal partner for a Water Softener, because Reverse Osmosis removes the small amount of Sodium that softening adds to your water.

Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Systems Brands
Kinetico
As an Authorized Independent Kinetico Dealer, we install the two systems Kinetico builds for homes: the flagship K5 Drinking Water Station and the value focused A200. The K5 offers the best contaminant removal on the market, with certified reduction of 99% of PFOA and PFOS, expandable cartridge options, and a 10 year parts warranty. The A200 packs Kinetico quality into a compact five stage system that fits neatly under the sink.
7 to 10 year parts warranty
AquaFlo
AquaFlo is a Canature WaterGroup brand, the same company behind the Hydrotech Water Softeners built in Cambridge, Ontario. The QCRO uses twist and lock Quick Change cartridges that make annual filter changes genuinely easy, and it is certified to reduce potential contaminants in your water. The RO 75 is our budget friendly option, a straightforward four stage system that delivers up to 99% reduction of total dissolved solids.
1 to 2 year parts warranty
Torrent
If you want more than a dedicated drinking water tap, Torrent takes a different approach. Designed and manufactured right in Brantford, Ontario, Torrent systems combine Water Softening and Drinking Water Treatment in a single whole home system, so every tap in the house benefits, not just the one at the kitchen sink. It is a strong fit if you are solving Hard Water and drinking water quality at the same time.
Pair Your Drinking Water System with a Water Softener
Hard Water is the number one enemy of a Reverse Osmosis membrane. Calcium and Magnesium Scale the membrane, cut its output, and shorten its life. Softened water protects your investment and keeps filter costs down. Browse our Water Softeners, including Non-Electric Kinetico systems, Hydrotech models built in Cambridge, or handle both jobs at once with a Torrent whole home system.
Drinking Water System FAQs
-
A Reverse Osmosis system reduces dissolved contaminants including lead, PFAS (PFOA and PFOS), Fluoride, Arsenic, Nitrates, Sodium, and Total Dissolved Solids, along with the Chloramine and Chlorine taste and odour from municipal treatment. Exact removal depends on the system and cartridges, which is why we test your water first.
-
We strongly recommend it. Hard Water scales the Reverse Osmosis membrane, reduces water production, and shortens membrane life. AquaFlo recommends feed water no harder than 7 grains per gallon, and untreated water in our region is several times harder than that. A Water Softener ahead of your drinking water system protects the membrane and lowers your long term filter costs.
-
Yes. Reverse Osmosis is one of the few residential treatment methods that reduces Fluoride. This comes up often in Brantford, which in 1945 became the first city in Canada to fluoridate its Municipal Water. If you would rather decide for yourself what is in your drinking water, a Reverse Osmosis system puts that choice back in your hands.
-
Yes. All four of our systems can be connected to a refrigerator water dispenser and ice maker, so you get filtered water and clear ice throughout the kitchen. The Kinetico K5 is especially well suited to fridge hookups thanks to its strong Flow Rate and water charged storage tank.
-
It depends on the system. The Kinetico K5 meters your actual water use and tells you when a change is due. The Kinetico A200 and AquaFlo QCRO use high capacity cartridges changed once a year. The AquaFlo RO 75 uses lower capacity filters changed every 6 months. We track your schedule and remind you when a change is coming up.

Yes, but Well Water usually needs pretreatment first. Iron, Sulfur, Hardness, and Sediment can quickly foul a Reverse Osmosis membrane, and water that is not biologically safe needs disinfection such as an Ultra Violet System. Our Rural Water Treatment page covers the full picture, and a free in-home water test tells us exactly what your well needs.
